AURORA
Aurora was born in Sand Wash Basin (Aroha 2020 Ohitika x Butte) and we were lucky enough to get to watch her grow up until she was removed with her family in September of 2021. She came to us in April of 2022 and will spend her life as an ambassador at For the Love of Aria. Our little blue roan who is larger than life..

BLUE SKY
Blue Sky (2006 Lightning x Pablina) is from Sand Wash Basin in Colorado and is dam to Stormie (the namesake of our Stormie Acres Ranch) and was with Paz, her daughter and Stomie’s son Silverstorm at the time she was removed in September of 2021. She will spend her life here along with Paz and Silverstorm.

CATORI
Catori, , thought to be in her teens, is originally from Nevada but was saved in Oklahoma by American Wild Horse Conservation. She came starved and bred but lost her baby and seems to have significant human trauma so she will get to live out her life with us with her bonded friend Meli.

CHARLOTTE
Charlotte is a TWH (Tennessee Walking Horse) that we took in from another rescue, CHRN, who helped many from a hoarding case. She is a beautiful cremello who sadly aborted her foal a few months after arriving here. She is also thought to have wobblers, a neurological disorder that makes her not a candidate for riding. She is in her late teens and will stay with us until she shows us it is time to transition. Her resilience is inspiring.

LOTUS
Lotus, who we call Lola as she is a bit spicier than a delicate Lotus is another of the TWH bred mares who came to us from CHRN. She is estimated to be 3-5 years old. She delivered a stunning colt in April of 2024, sweet Ren, who sadly passed away suddenly at 17 days old. She grieved her loss for quite some time but is now happy and ready to learn to trust humans. She is quite playful and is a joy. Like the Lotus flower, she has truly risen from the mud and the muck to bring beauty to all.

CHIEF
Chief is a Colorado titled gelding born in 2004 that was an owner surrender who came to us in early 2024 with his bonded mare Dancer. He needed significant vet and farrier care upon arrival but is truly living his best life here with us. Although we are not against adopting him to a forever home, he also has the option to live his life out here.
DANCER
Dancer is a Wyoming titled mare born in 2004 that was an owner surrender who came to us in early 2024 with her bonded gelding Chief. Dancer had significant health and hoof issues but with the guidance of our veterinarian and farrier, we have been able to make her very comfortable. She is very wise and may be the sweetest horse on the property.

EVERLY
Everly is a pinto pony said to be born in 2019. She came to us with her filly who was born in May of 2024 from the CLA auction here in Colorado. We welcomed both into our Charlie’s Legacy program that supports equines of all breeds. Ellie, her filly has been weaned and Everly is spending time in the pasture after vet and farrier care to decompress and learn to trust humans.
FIREFLY
Firefly, an unknown Sand Wash Basin filly born in 2021 and named by us upon her arrival in April of 2022 is bonded with filly StellaLuna and the two have grown up together here at Stormie Acres. She is halter trained and will be looking for her forever family soon. She is bold and confident and will need an owner to match her strong personality.

FURY
Fury (2012 Dan x Britta) is from Sand Wash Basin in Colorado and was part of Storm’s band, one of our favorites, the entire time we knew her before she was gathered in September of 2021. Her 2019 son Typhoon also resides with us. One of the most stunning mares on the property, she has chosen to hold on to her wild and will live out her life with us. She can most often be found with Paz and Blue Sky.

JOURNEY
Journey was born in Sand Wash Basin in 2021 and came to us in April of 2022 as one of our first Worth the Wait (horses with no bids) horses. Unknown in SWB she quickly made herself known here and her name was chosen by our supporters. She is halter trained, loves everyone she meets and will be looking for her forever family soon.
KALEA
Kalea is from Diamond Hills South and was born in 2018. She came to us in June of 2024 after spending 4 years in holding. She came to us after having no bids in multiple online auctions. She is currently spending time learning to be a horse again in a pasture with playful friends. Our hope is to start her gentling this summer.

KIARA
Kiara, who we affectionately call Kia, is also from the TWH hoarding situation we took in from CHRN. She came to us through the Charlie’s Legacy program and delivered a healthy colt in June of 2024. Remi has been weaned and will be looking for his forever home after being gelded. Kia is in her late teens and will live out her life with us.
LARK
Lark is an older mare of unknown lineage from Sand Wash Basin. Her daughter Robin was one of our first mustangs from SWB. She stayed with stallion Eagle, the love of her life until his passing in 2018 and they have many offspring together. Her daughters Sparrow and Morning Dove also reside with us but for now she has adopted Journey as her own. A very special mare, she will live out her life here in our wild and free herd.

MAVERICK
Maverick was born in Piceance Basin in Colorado in 2018 and lost his freedom in July of 2022. He came to us in November of 2022, another horse who had no bids so we brought him home. The Piceance geldings have proven to be our wildest mustangs so far but he is now ready to continue his gentling and is the definition of wild to willing.

MELI
Meli is thought to be born in 2020 in Nevada and was saved in Oklahoma by American Wild Horse Conservation and came to us with her bonded friend Catori in August of 2023. Thought to be bred, she had many episodes of colic and we almost lost her twice but she never delivered a foal. Slightly more willing to engage with humans than Catori, we have made the decision to let her live out her life here so she never ends up in a bad place again.

MOANA
Moana was born in Pokegama HMA in Oregon and her age was estimated to be 3y when she was saved by American Wild Horse Conservation and Skydog Sanctuary in July of 2022. She delivered her filly Tala only 3 days after arriving at our facility in March of 2023. She is the wildest of all our mustangs and is honored for who she was born to be and will spend her life with us however she chooses.

ODA
Oda (2009 Lightning x Sunshine) is from Sand Wash Basin in Colorado and was one of our first BLM mustangs who arrived in June of 2021 just five months after she was gathered in a bait and trap. She quickly reminded us that wild horses are wild and was the reason we began bringing in professional trainers to help. She is now a strong member of our ambassador herd being allowed to choose human interaction on her terms.

PAZ
Paz (2014 Hurricane x Pablina) is from Sand Wash Basin in Colorado and is our Better Together horse. He was adopted, taken to Floridia then his adopter passed on him. A group of rescues, Bandita’s Wild Horse Promise and Windwalker Ridge Mustang Sanctuary came together with us to bring him back to Colorado so we could reunite him with his mare Blue Sky.

PEANUT
Peanut was born in 2016 in Black Mountain Arizona and is a pink burro who came to us with his bonded jenny Sassy in July of 2022. He was gentled by our burro mentor Stacy Beck and then was loved by his family Mike and Julie. When they decided their burros could be amazing ambassadors we were so grateful they chose us. And let us tell you, burros are not horses. The two are now bonded with senior mustang mare Spirit and are the highlight of every day here at the ranch.

PEARL
Pearl is a senior mustang mare thought to be in her 20’s from Sand Wash Basin in Colorado. She was first gathered then released in 2008 when documentation began. In August of 2021 we went to the basin to say goodbye to our friends the night before the round up began. Pearl, Shocktop and Oda spent many hours with us that day so when she had no bids in June of 2021, we knew she had to come home with us. She lives with her now gelding Shocktop and both will stay with us.

PHOENIX
Phoenix is a stunning liver chestnut gelding from Piceance Basin who came to us with three other geldings in November of 2022. Thought to be born in 2018 and having no bids, he was another of our Worth the Wait horses. Like Maverick, he held on to his wild for two years but is now ready to move forward with humans. One of our most magical moments came when our board vice president, Stacy, was the first person he ever touched.
ROBIN
Robin (2012 Eagle x Lark) was one of the three mustang mares who we brought home in June of 2021 from Sand Wash Basin. She is the dam of VanGogh with famous sire Picasso. Sadly VanGogh was killed on the highway in 2020. Our second $25 mustang in addition to Pearl she has proven to be wise beyond her years and is a ranch favorite and is still with Oda who she came with and gelding Rebel from Sand Wash as well.

SASSY
Sassy was born in 2014 in Lake Pleasant Arizona and came to us with Peanut in July 2022. A grey burro gathered as a “nuisance” is the epitome of her name. Bold, confident and a born leader she has taught us many lessons and not always the easy way. Gentled by our burro mentor Stacy Beck she lived happily with her family, Mike and Julie until they let her and Peanut come to us to be our burro ambassadors.

SHOCKTOP
Shocktop (2014 Haze x Demi) was born in Sand Wash Basin in Colorado. His dam is a domestic mare dropped off in the basin. On the day before the round up in 2021, we spent many hours with him and his mares Oda and Pearl. He was then adopted by the most incredible human. When her life circumstances changed she gave us the first chance to get him and we are so very grateful. He and Pearl are inseparable today and he is the kindest mustang here after being so loved by his person.

SPARROW
Sparrow (2019 Ranger x Lark) is from Sand Wash Basin in Colorado. We reunited her with her mother and half sister Morning Dove in May of 2023 but the three had other plans and chose their own “family”. She is progressing well with training and will be looking for her own person soon. Right now she mostly spends time with all the boys and although small in stature she runs the herd.

#MustangMisson
TIONA
Tiona is a 2022 Twin Peaks filly who came to us after having no bids in June of 2024. She is sweet, kind and willing and we are just giving her some time to grow up. She is gentled but still quite timid so will stay with us until she has more confidence and can choose her person. Growing babies and giving them a solid foundation is our speciality and she will be a shining example of an Aria grown mustang in the next year or so.

TYPHOON
Typhoon (2019 Storm x Fury) was one of our favorite colts in Sand Wash Basin and having the chance to watch him grow up before he lost his freedom in 2021 was the honor of a lifetime. Although he was adopted in October of 2022, his adopter felt he was not ready to be domesticated and gave us the first chance to take him. Of course we said yes. He has been slower to trust but is now thriving with his training and will be looking for his forever person within the next year, hopefully started under saddle.

WATSON
Watson (2012 Femur x Makani) is from Sand Wash Basin in Colorado. Although we did not know him well in the basin before he was gathered in September of 2021, we had donors ask us to bring him and his son Whistler who our friend Beth’s daughter Madi had named to Stormie Acres. So we did. And Watson is choosing to hold on to his wild and is the only mustang here who has chosen no human interaction. He is kind and has adopted our Silverstorm as his own son so both will stay here together.

WHISTLER
Whistler (2021 Watson x Cassia) was born in Sand Wash Basin in April of of 2021. When you are the first one to spot a foal, you get the chance to name them. Our friend Beth, her husband Jeremy and daughter Madi were the first ones to see this colt with his small band. Madi chose the name Whistler and later wrote an award winning story about him. He is progressing well with his training and will be available for adoption soon.

ELSA
Elsa was also saved with Moana by American Wild Horse Conservation and Skydog Sanctuary after being starved and bred and dumped with a kill buyer in Colorado. She is estimated to be born in 2018 and delivered a perfect draft colt in May of 2023 we named Sven. He had a loving adopter before he was even born. Elsa has stolen all of our hearts and her confirmation and past trauma does not make her a good candidate for adoption but her future is bright no matter where she goes, or stays.

TRAVELER
Traveler is estimated to be born in 2019 in Spruce Pequop and came to us from Florida with Paz. Once we came together to get Paz back to Colorado, the BLM asked us to take a young horse with respiratory issues who needed a less humid climate. So once again we said yes. Traveler has since thrived in our care. He would need the perfect adopter for his special needs but we believe time will tell his fate and if it is here with us forever, so be it.
